What is A2P 10dlc?

A2P 10DLC refers to a system in the United States that allows businesses to send Application-to-Person (A2P) type messaging via standard 10-digit long code (10DLC) phone numbers. Read more on Bird's (formerly MessageBird) website here.

What is happening?

In early 2022, US mobile carriers will require specific registration for each business sending A2P SMS messages. Non-registered businesses will not be able to send SMS to US mobile numbers.

What does this mean for you?

This only affect businesses who send text messages to US phone number. For those affected, the SMS functionality to US mobile numbers will not work if they're not registered.

What can I do? πŸ“Œ

In order to make sure that your SMS are reaching your customers, you can complete the registration by utilising our native Twilio or Bird integrations, which allow you to connect your SMS provider account to your Appointedd account.

You can also Stop using the SMS functionality for the US region, or if you continue to do so, acknowledge that your messages may not reach the customer. Email communications are unaffected by this.
